hjælp til raid via fiber



Hej Sslug'ere
Jeg er lidt i tvivl om, hvilke oplysninger, der skal med i denne mail, så bær over med mig hvis mailen er håbløs :)
Jeg skriver, idet vi har indkøbt en RAID boks, som vi har koblet til vores server via en fiber switch.
RAID-boksen er sat op som RAID-5 og formatteret med XFS.
Filsystemet er fyldt med dicom filer (medicinske billeder) ca. 40k stykket.
Vi synes ikke vi har performance nok; skal vi f.eks. kopiere eller læse fra dicom filerne, fås i iostat -x -m sdd

avg-cpu:  %user   %nice %system %iowait  %steal   %idle
           8.56    0.00   17.38   21.16    0.00   52.90

Device:         rrqm/s   wrqm/s     r/s     w/s    rMB/s    wMB/s avgrq-sz avgqu-sz   await  svctm  %util
sdd               1.00     0.00  444.00    5.00     5.99     0.05    27.55     3.79   14.61   2.22  99.50

Så device't er næsten 100% brugt, men await er 14.61 og svctm er 2,22. 
Et sted på nettet fandt jeg at man bør være bekymret hvis await er meget større end svctm da det er tegn på at alting bare venter…

Hvis jeg istedet prøver med 

dd if=/dev/sdd of=/dev/null bs=1024k

ser det således ud:

           3.65    0.00   10.22   34.79    0.00   51.34

Er der nogen gode bud på, hvordan jeg kommer videre herfra? Er det en acceptabel performance?
