Hvis det passer i sammenhængen. I alle andre sammenhænge
end software ville jeg oversætte »front end« til »forende«. Problemet med det er bare at det ligesom »brandmur« er en
lidt uklar analogi for den ukyndige bruger. Du har ikke
givet sammenhængen, men hvis det for eksempel er »Cervisia
is a frontend for CVS« så har du nok ret i at »brugerflade«
(eventuelt »grafisk brugerflade«) er den rigtige
oversættelse.

Sammenhængen er i Sane (scannerprogrammet):
Don't turn off the lamp after leaving the frontend.
Undlad at slukke for lampen, ved afslutningen af brugerfladen.
Det er en forklaring til en valgmulighed, til en scanner med typen gt68xx, så jeg går ud fra, at det er en 'software frontend'.
