Enig, næsten. Hvem skal forudse, hvad der er godt at forberede?
Det minder lidt om diskussionen med administrative programmer med/uden
database backend. Ingen kan forudse alle de spørgsmål, som vi senere
kunne få lyst til at finde svar på ved at søge/beregne ud fra vores
corportate eller research data.

På samme måde er det ikke alle string-manipulationer, som man kan
forudse og så er det godt at have værktøjet til at lave en
string-manipulation, som ikke er voldsom kostbar. Du kan bruge
sprintf til de fleste af de ting, som folk synes er så svære, og
hvis du bedre kan lide Turbo Pascal stilen "alfa" + "beta" - så
brug PERL eller Python.

Det er så nemt at lave string-handling i C, at de første eksempler
står i kapitel 1 af Kernighan & Ritchie.
